TFL AGREE TO INVESTIGATE COUNTDOWN TIMER FOR TEMPORARY BUS SHELTER AT HAMMERSMITH

5.00.24pm GMT Tue 2nd Feb 2010

Susan Kramer, MP for Richmond Park and North Kingston has secured an agreement from Transport for London to investigate a measure to improve the situation for passengers at Hammersmith bus station.

Transport for London agreed to investigate installing a bus countdown timer in the covered walkway between the shopping centre and the temporary bus shelter outside.

This would allow passengers to wait inside, under cover until their bus arrives rather than outside where the bus station provides very little protection from the elements.

Susan Kramer MP commented:

"Passengers travelling over Hammersmith Bridge have suffered for too long at this 'temporary shelter'. With little protection from the cold weather, waiting for a bus to arrive is often a miserable experience.

"While this is by no means an ideal solution, if a countdown timer was installed in the walkway it would at least allow passengers to wait inside in the warm until their bus arrived.

"I will continue to push Transport for London to provide a proper bus shelter at Hammersmith, so that passengers are no longer left out in the cold."
