MP CONTINUES FIGHT TO GET EAST SHEEN POST OFFICE REOPENED

12.38.22pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 3rd Jul 2008

Local MP Susan Kramer is continuing the fight to get East Sheen Post Office re-opened.

Susan Kramer MP commented:

"Local people are responding rapidly to a survey on the issue making it clear how many depend on the Sheen Office. Residents also report that the Post Office branch in Mortlake, where many people are now having to trek to do Post Office business, simply cannot cope with the extra-pressure."

Susan Kramer has spoken to the Post Office to ask for quick action to get the Post Office reopened or transferred to the W.H. Smith on the Upper Richmond Road at Sheen Lane.

In her latest conversation with the Post Office they have confirmed that they are hopeful that a temporary service can be resumed from the current location by the end of next week, however as yet there are no firm agreements in place.

"This is hopeful news as we do need a temporary solution to cope with the immediate problem."
