MP CAMPAIGNS FOR BUS SERVICES FROM RICHMOND TO KINGSTON HOSPITAL

4.35.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 15th Apr 2008

Local MP Susan Kramer, who has been leading a campaign for improved public transport from Richmond to Kingston Hospital, has this week brought together Transport for London and Kingston Hospital representatives to work on the problem.

The Hospital is supporting a campaign by Susan Kramer MP and local residents for the 371 bus to extend to the hospital.

Susan Kramer MP commented:

"TfL is now taking the problem far more seriously. In the past bus planners had failed to recognise that Kingston Hospital now serves a much wider area, including Richmond and Barnes which once relied on Queen Mary's which is no longer a district hospital.

TfL will take a more detailed look at whether changes of route on either the 371 or the K5 could improve the connection without disrupting other commuters.

"As always, this is a campaign which will require patience and persistence. Local people need convenient public transport to a key hospital like Kingston. While we need improvements immediately, these increased discussions should also mean that bus transport is included in the design of the next expansion phase of Kingston Hospital."
