MP HITS OUT AT CONSERVATIVE REFUSAL TO BACK ACADEMY PLANS

4.32.25pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 4th Apr 2008

Commenting on the refusal of Richmond Borough Conservatives' to back the plans for an academy at Shene School, Susan Kramer, MP for Richmond Park and North Kingston said:

"The Conservatives' had four years to do something to improve Shene School and they failed."

"It is regretful that they are refusing to give the plans to improve Shene their full backing."

"However, I am pleased that local parents have seen the potential this scheme has to offer in making a real improvement in local education."

"It is also great news that Edutrust are keen to create a school at the heart of the local community, with lots of involvement and input from the community."
