Kramer welcomes Kingston & Richmond joint command unit

2.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 30th Jul 2007

"Today (30th July) the Metropolitan police demonstrated a joint command room which will assist 999 callers in both Richmond and Kingston.

"The centre has access to CCTV cameras across both boroughs and will provide intelligence to police attending emergencies. It will be fully-operational in September. Further into the future, it will also play a role in non-emergency responses.

"This is a fine example of Richmond and Kingston working together. We know that this is a low-crime area, but it's still vital that police respond very quickly when crime happens."
