MP SAYS MAYOR NEEDS TO ADDRESS NEEDS OF RICHMOND AND KINGSTON

10.42.54am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 23rd Oct 2006

Local MP Susan Kramer has said that the London Assembly and Mayor needs to give a higher priority to the Richmond and Kingston areas.

Speaking at an event, 'If I were Mayor', hosted by The Portcullis Trust at Richmond Adult Community College she said:

" Ken Livingstone would have difficulty finding outer London and we feel overlooked at times.

"The Olympics mean that there is quite a narrow focus on east London and we want the whole of the capital, including our areas, to feel the benefit of 2012.

"Scrutiny of the London Assembly is relatively weak and we need stronger links around consultation on the major issues of the day like transport and health.

"We need a concept of One City so that Londoners regardless of where they live can feel an affinity with others in the capital city."
