Local MP Susan Kramer met Kingston Hospital chiefs last week to be briefed on progress to improve patient care.

Ms. Kramer congratulated the staff on retaining their two star rating and looked to new cleaning arrangements to improve clinical care at the hospital.

Speaking after her visit Ms. Kramer said:

" I would like to congratulate Kingston Hospital on retaining its two star rating in the NHS. Many other hospitals have gone backwards on their ratings so it is good to see that it has held onto its score.

" I also think that Kingston has done well on its waiting times for Accident and Emergencies which are under the waiting target time of 4 hours.

" I am still concerned about the Mental Health Trust's lack of consultation on the closure of day centres and will continue to press on this but I am glad Kingston Hospital remains an excellent local NHS hospital.

" I hope that new cleaning arrangements that were put in place during the summer will make a big difference too.

" We all know the importance of cleanliness in ensuring good patient care and I really want Kingston Hospital to succeed."
