Ministers Should Get Real Over Heathrow Claims Kramer

The Liberal Democrats have today challenged Aviation Minister Jim Fitzpatrick's claims that the experience for travellers at Heathrow has been 'getting better'.

Liberal Democrat research released today demonstrates that the average delays experienced by passengers have increased significantly over the past ten years. Commenting, Susan Kramer MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Transport Secretary, who compiled these figures, said:

"If ministers really think that the travelling experience for air passengers is getting better, they have clearly have not been listening to the experiences of ordinary passengers.

"Our figures show that delays are getting worse, not better, with thousands of years being wasted at British airports.

"The Government must a grip of this issue and look seriously at how the experience for passengers can be improved.

"Rather than trying to keep fitting more and more flights into Heathrow, with the environmental problems that follow, BAA should focus on giving passengers a better service."
